Inter Turned Down Chelsea's Candreva Bid
Inter Milan's Coppa Italia bid ended on Tuesday when beaten by Antonio Candreva's former club Lazio.
But the Nerazzurri did reportedly fend off interest in the midfielder from Chelsea according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, via Football London.
Candreva was signed by Inter from Lazio in the summer in a €22m deal with Chelsea coach Antonio Conte reportedly plotting a move - for a player he knows well - to take him to Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline on Tuesday.
This saw it claimed a €30m bid was made but Premier League champions elect Chelsea were informed the midfielder wasn't for sale with the approach instantly rejected with the Blues told Inter had no interest in selling Candreva.
A Champions League place is the priority for Inter this season but success in the Coppa Italia was also something we wanted. Heading into the quarter-final meeting with Lazio the Nerazzurri were on a nine game winning run and favourites to make it into the last four.
However, the five changes made by Stefano Pioli from the side that beat Pescara in Serie A last weekend - Yuto Nagatomo, Gary Medel, Joao Mario, Roberto Gagliardini and Mauro Icardi were replaced by Cristian Ansaldi, Jeison Murillo, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Ever Banega and Rodrigo Palacio - resulted in Inter being beaten.
